In line with our
Vision Statement and our Special Needs Policy, Midsomer Norton
Primary School takes a positive approach to encouraging good behaviour. We offer praise and build self-esteem at every opportunity, whilst expecting courtesy and consideration from all our pupils. Respect for each other, for adults and for differing beliefs and cultures is a requirement by our school. If a pupil falls short of these expectations then it is always followed up by an adult within the school, who will discuss the incident ensuring children have the opportunity to explain any misunderstandings. Any concerns or incidents that may occur at lunchtime are entered into a book by our lunchtime supervisors and every entry is investigated by our teacher with responsibility for personal and social education. In addition to this, the lunchtime supervisors (SMSAs) meet regularly with that teacher to discuss problems or concerns. Anything other than a minor incident would be discussed with the Head Teacher and parents would be kept informed. Building children's self-esteem and their ability to make sensible choices is central to our approach when managing behaviour. We present clear values in our assemblies and every class has a weekly 'Circle Time' when children can discuss personal or social issues that may not arise during normal lessons. To read our complete Behaviour Policy, or any other school policy, please see Jenny in the school office. |
